New~!

I know it has been a while since I've posted anything, and I never posted my very final product of my Graphics Design I class, but I might do that soon... Currently I am in my GD II class which is now changed to Branding.  This class has been interesting.  A lot of lectures but also a lot of learning!!!

The project we're currently working on is making logos and letterheads for companies. Its been fun the whole process but a pain to my wallet.  The fictional company I am making my logo for is called Peddlers Bike Company.  They're an eco-friendly, urban city bicycle company who's subject audience is college goers.  They wanted a logo that gave off that vibe without using the color green.  I thought mine did the trick.

Next step is to make the letterhead. This included making a business card, stationary, and envelopes.  I have only gotten to making the business card.  Here is the prototype I made out of 150lb cardstock I got from Staples for about $15.  Its supposed to be a perforated business card that way you can tear off the card from the pop-out bicycle part, or leave it connected and stand it up.  I'm hoping to have the final product printed and the bicycle embossed.

Till next time~

Pool of Earth 2.0

My project this time was for my Art History III class. I had to recreate Alan Sonfist's "Pool of Earth." However, I made it 90% smaller than the original design of a 50ft diameter.  Sonfist's original geographical sculpture was placed in a chemical waste dump and he was trying to bring life naturally to the land.  He just helped start that with the placement of his indigenous rocks and soil.  Over the course of three weeks, I attempted to bring life to the desert that was in my neighborhood, and I came out unsuccessful.. But maybe something will grow if my own pool of earth isn't stripped by the housing developments.  I will try to keep looking at it! I truly hope it grows!!

Art Walk 2012

This month's Art Walk was the first one I have ever been to.  And even though I am not surprised that I enjoyed myself, I am surprised at how many people were actually there.. I thoroughly enjoyed working with my partner John! He was just as dedicated to completing it at 120% as I was. It was a refreshing experience smooth sailing through all the awkwardness and working with someone as humorous and wholehearted as he.  He even saved my life, and for that, I am truly grateful.  I would happily work with him again :)

I decided to make shirts for us to be in a slight dress code. I really just wanted to match

John had to "limbo his way" in the car

Lookin awesome in the shirts I made

Me frantically trying to get to the set up spot on time

Our poster we made and candy bowl

Sooo excited to get the show on the road

Trying to bite Alex's (our cameraman) finger

The spot we sat in front had an area for children to be creative

I was afraid the clouds were going to start rolling in, but thankfully we had perfect weather

Cameraman Alex on break. And, yes, his homemade shirt does say cameraman

The next few were other student's works around town.

 I love this face

 Such a cutie

The lovely salon that let us set up shop outside theirs. Thank you Dana!
